About the position

The Facilities Operations Chemical Process Technician II - Level 4 is responsible for operating and supporting chemical processing equipment in a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery factory. This role involves collecting samples, documenting production data, and contributing to process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and minimize waste. The technician will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure safe and efficient operations while adhering to safety protocols and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and support chemical processing equipment and machinery, including pumps and mixers.
  • Complete work orders as prioritized and generate work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Collaborate with and oversee the Chemical Team as required by departmental needs.
  • Monitor and manage central processes to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Conduct regular control checks on raw materials and intermediates for production needs.
  • Record the check-in and check-out procedures for chemical loads.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
  • Collect samples during site production for testing and analysis.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of delivery data, batch records, and operating parameters.
  • Assist in developing and implementing process improvements.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to diagnose equipment issues and optimize production processes.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine maintenance activities on equipment.
  • Remain informed about industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Facilitate initial response to hazardous materials incidents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or at least two years of experience as a Chemical Processing Technician or Facilities Maintenance Technician.
  • At least two to four years of proven experience as a Chemical Process Technician or in a comparable position.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle as needed.
  • Three years or more experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Moderate ability in troubleshooting across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Moderate knowledge in using hand tools, power tools, and digital voltmeters.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Three years of experience following safety and chemical regulations established by OSHA and the EPA.
  • Ability to commit to working rotating shifts and undertake overtime as necessary.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to established safety protocols.
  • HAZWOPER experience and knowledge of Hazard Communication Regulations.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical demands of the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate of Science in Engineering (ASE) or an Associate of Applied Science focused on chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Hazardous Materials Technician certification.
  • Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certification.
