About the position

The Facilities Operations Manager at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is responsible for managing and coordinating daily operations, maintenance, and construction activities of a multi-discipline team. This role focuses on optimizing facility services, ensuring effective communication of issues and activities, and developing innovative service solutions that add value to the medical center. The manager will oversee selected buildings and coordinate construction activities with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate daily operations, maintenance, and construction activities of a multi-discipline team.
  • Control access of outside contractors and engineering consultants.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and performance metrics for operations and maintenance activities.
  • Lead a team of operations managers and trade labor to ensure day-to-day operations and maintenance requirements are met.
  • Coordinate planned interruptions and plant services with affected administrators and departments.
  • Design and implement workflow processes and systems to enhance performance and institutional value.
  • Review and evaluate all plant reports and maintain appropriate records.
  • Assist in planning and development of staff to address current and future issues.
  • Participate in departmental work planning and goal setting for short-term and long-term projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), Hot Work Permits, and Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA).
  • Respond to emergency calls during non-business hours and recommend corrective measures.
  • Coordinate call center, energy performance analysis, BMS alarm response, and technical support for operations staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience in healthcare, education, or science facility maintenance and management.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience in facilities management within a hospital and union trade labor environment.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems and computer maintenance management systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree with Professional Engineering License.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.
  • Experience with energy conservation programs and utility distribution.
