About the position

The Facilities Operations Specialist I/II at the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, construction, and troubleshooting on various systems within the facility. This role supports the stability and efficiency of the U.S. economy by ensuring that the physical infrastructure is well-maintained and operational. The position requires a hands-on approach to managing mechanical and electrical systems, as well as providing support for small construction projects and office reconfigurations. The incumbent will also be expected to work extended hours during emergencies or crisis situations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation of mechanical and electrical systems such as transformers, switchboards, and HVAC equipment.
  • Support the installation of security and surveillance equipment throughout the facility.
  • Perform locksmith duties including installing and maintaining locks and key duplicating.
  • Install upgrades to facility electrical, electronic, and security systems, ensuring compliance with relevant codes.
  • Conduct inspections, repairs, and monitoring of critical equipment to mitigate operational irregularities.
  • Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to complete work orders.
  • Maintain logs on stationary equipment to verify inspections are performed correctly.
  • Operate and monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS) for critical operating equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance for safety and operating equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, bucket lifts, and woodworking tools.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; Associate's Degree or 2 years equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2-5+ years of experience in repair and maintenance preferred.
  • Knowledge of building automation system software supporting HVAC, water, steam, and power distribution preferred.
  • License/certification in a trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction or repair of buildings.
  • Ability to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with building automation systems and HVAC systems.
  • Certification in relevant trades such as plumbing or electrical work.
