About the position

The Facilities Operations Specialist will serve in the Public Works Directorate of NAVFAC Northwest, primarily responsible for providing training and guidance to field personnel in managing facilities components within the Public Works Management System. This role involves implementing changes to improve practices, demonstrating technical proficiency, and managing program implementation without direct authority.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training and guidance to field personnel in the inventory phase of facilities management.
  • Implement changes to long-standing practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency and excellent communication skills to influence change.
  • Manage program implementation by Public Works Departments without direct line authority.
  • Assist Public Works Departments with investment prioritization through various maintenance plans.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 level in federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience applying technical principles and methods of facility management.
  • Experience assisting with investment prioritization through Maintenance Execution Plans and other related plans.
  • Ability to track multi-year metrics for monitoring and controlling the Infrastructure Condition Assessment Program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) in fire alarm systems or related fields.
  • Experience in coordinating data calls and troubleshooting problems in facility management.
