About the position

The Facilities Project Manager at Florida A&M University is responsible for managing medium- to large-scale construction and renovation projects from inception to completion. This role involves project planning, budgeting, resource identification, and ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulations. The position requires coordination among various stakeholders, including architects, contractors, and laborers, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction and renovation projects from start to finish.
  • Perform project planning, budgeting, and resource identification.
  • Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct cost estimating and value engineering.
  • Assist in scheduling bid openings and review bids for compliance with contract documents.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to predetermined schedules.
  • Devise project work plans and make necessary revisions.
  • Coordinate efforts of all parties involved in the project, including architects, consultants, and contractors.
  • Monitor progress of construction activities and hold regular status meetings.
  • Perform periodic inspections of construction sites.
  • Identify potential disputes and claims in project design and construction.
  • Research and prepare reports on operations, equipment, and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications and state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Post secondary technical degree and a combination of experience equal to eight years in construction management services; or a bachelor's degree and three years of experience in construction management services.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic architectural/construction drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.
  • Ability to interpret complex written specifications and conditions.
  • Skill in estimating the costs of materials and equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Benefits

  • Salary range between $50,000.00 to $60,000.00, commensurate with relevant experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
