About the position

The Facilities Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, remodeling, and renovation of City-owned buildings. This role involves establishing work schedules, providing technical assistance, and supervising Facilities Management staff. The position requires effective communication and management skills to ensure the efficient operation of facilities and to promote energy-saving initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of maintenance, repair, remodeling, and renovation of City-owned buildings.
  • Establish schedules and assignments for work activities based on work priority and personnel skills.
  • Supervise and train Facilities Management staff including Building Maintenance Technicians and Electricians.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain annual budgets and assist with the development of five-year plans.
  • Assist with the oversight of contracts and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure efficient operation of building systems.
  • Implement energy-saving procedures and recommend projects to promote energy savings.
  • Provide safety training and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries, preparing reports of findings as per HR procedures.
  • Monitor tool and part inventories and maintain adequate working conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Five years plus experience in Facilities Management with some college coursework or related technical training.
  • Expert knowledge of standard practices, materials, and equipment used in the Facilities Maintenance industry.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and tracking program and project expenditures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
