About the position

The Facilities Specialist at CoreFirst Bank & Trust plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and functionality of all bank-owned properties, which include nine bank branches and various ATM locations in Topeka, with occasional responsibilities extending to Kansas City. This position is integral to the preventive maintenance program, ensuring that all facilities are well-maintained and operational. The Facilities Specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting and performing minor maintenance tasks related to electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repairs or replacements. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, ensuring that all bank properties are safe and presentable for both employees and customers. The Facilities Specialist will work from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of additional hours as necessary. The responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving minor maintenance issues, prioritizing work orders, and completing tasks efficiently. Daily tasks may involve assembling and moving furniture, hanging artwork, repairing doorknobs and locks, performing painting tasks, and conducting routine landscaping. The role also includes basic electrical tasks, plumbing repairs, and HVAC maintenance, ensuring that all systems are functioning properly. In addition to routine maintenance, the Facilities Specialist will respond to emergency maintenance issues, including after-hours situations, and assist with remodeling projects and departmental relocations. The position requires the use of a company-provided vehicle for daily operations, and the specialist must maintain the cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop and tools. Communication with supervisors and the Facilities office is essential for efficient task completion, utilizing a bank-provided phone during work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing the preventive maintenance program across all bank-owned properties.
  • Diagnose and resolve minor maintenance issues related to electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment.
  • Prioritize and complete work orders promptly.
  • Assemble and move furniture; hang artwork, frames, and bulletin boards.
  • Set up and rearrange tables and chairs; repair doorknobs, locks, and door closures.
  • Patch holes in walls and perform painting tasks for both interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Perform routine landscaping tasks such as mulching, trimming, weeding, and replacing plants.
  • Ensure that all exterior spaces, including drive-up and walk-up ATMs, are clean and presentable.
  • Handle basic electrical tasks, such as changing light bulbs and installing LED fixtures.
  • Perform routine plumbing repairs, including unstopping toilets and fixing leaks.
  • Conduct basic HVAC maintenance, such as replacing air filters and addressing minor repairs.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues, including after-hours situations as needed.
  • Assist with remodeling projects and departmental relocations, including the setup and teardown of cubicles.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bank's maintenance shop and tools.
  • Ensure that the company-provided vehicle is kept in a professional condition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial building maintenance or a related field.
  • Proficient in basic carpentry and the use of associated power tools.
  • Knowledge of secondary electrical circuits and related fixtures.
  • Experience with basic plumbing and HVAC systems maintenance in a commercial setting.
  • Mechanically inclined with a solutions-oriented approach to troubleshooting.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
