About the position

The Facilities Supervisor at Sephora's Mississippi Distribution Center is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all building systems, equipment, facilities, and grounds to ensure a safe and operationally sound environment. This role involves supervising Maintenance Technicians and Sanitation personnel, managing work assignments, and performance evaluations. The Facilities Supervisor collaborates with local service providers, inspectors, and property asset managers to maintain the overall functional performance of the building and its equipment. In this position, the supervisor will direct the daily operations of the maintenance department, ensuring that preventative maintenance, cleaning, and repair activities are assessed, documented, and completed efficiently. The supervisor will also oversee the maintenance of motorized material handling equipment, conveyor belts, and HVAC systems, anticipating potential issues and developing proactive plans to mitigate them. Maintaining an adequate stock of parts for the maintenance department is crucial to promote service efficiency. The Facilities Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA and state-mandated safety standards, conducting necessary training, and providing guidance to the maintenance team for their professional development. This role requires effective communication with vendors and contractors to ensure that all work is performed according to agreed terms. The supervisor will also perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the maintenance department and the distribution center's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.
  • Direct the assessment, repair, and documentation for equipment and facility preventative maintenance, cleaning, and repair activities.
  • Supervise the completion of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance activities for motorized material handling equipment, conveyor belts, and building HVAC systems.
  • Anticipate potential facility and equipment problems and develop a plan of action to prevent issues affecting the Distribution Center's operation.
  • Ensure that parts stock for the maintenance department is maintained to promote efficiencies of service.
  • Maintain compliance with company and required federal OSHA and state-mandated safety standards.
  • Conduct OSHA and state-mandated training for maintenance and facility management requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to the Maintenance Team for skills enhancement and career development.
  • Ensure that Maintenance Technicians and Sanitation associates meet performance standards and comply with safety policies and regulations.
  • Work with vendors and contractors to ensure work is performed according to agreed terms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates of Arts (A.A.) degree preferred or 3 or more years of experience in facilities and maintenance supervision, preferably in a Distribution Center or warehousing environment.
  • Automated Process Control or Material Handling Equipment maintenance experience.
  • Understanding of and experience with HVAC systems.
  • Previous experience using, training, and enforcing Lock-out/Tag-out process, fall protection, and other required OSHA and state required safety regulations.
  • Welding and/or fabrication experience.
  • Extensive mechanical and electrical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
  • CFM certification or pursuing CFM certification is a plus.
  • Formal electrical/electronic, technician or mechanical millwright training is a plus.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community, and with vendors.

  • Knowledgeable in standard maintenance practices (i.e. lubrication, adjustments, set-up, calibration, etc.).

  • Knowledge of spare parts inventory practices.
