About the position

The Facilities Systems Supervisor will work within the Facilities Management Department of the Massachusetts Trial Court, overseeing maintenance programs to ensure that building systems remain in good repair. This role involves managing various mechanical, electrical, life safety, plumbing, and other facility systems. The supervisor will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and oversee corrective repairs, while also coordinating with outside vendors and contractors. The position requires collaboration with the Department of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) for construction projects and acting as the primary technical resource for the region.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the daily performance of building systems and adjusts equipment performance for optimal conditions.
  • Maintains a daily log of concerns/complaints from building occupants and investigates all complaints.
  • Issues job priorities to Maintenance Technicians and schedules overtime and vacations.
  • Performs random inspections to monitor work quality and completeness.
  • Responsible for major equipment rebuilds, system upgrades, and construction projects.
  • Writes authorization requests for facility improvements.
  • Monitors and operates computer-controlled equipment, including Energy Management Systems (EMS).
  • Acts as liaison between Facilities Management and DCAMM for various projects.
  • Maintains the CAMIS work order system and ensures work orders are closed upon completion.
  • Reports building performance monthly and maintains an inventory of plans and specifications.
  • Ensures scheduled maintenance is completed as per assigned frequencies.
  • Supervises equipment maintenance contractors to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Tracks completion of unscheduled maintenance and performs other related duties.
  • Assists with project scope, budget, and timeline development.
  • Coordinates construction teams to minimize operational impact and oversees project execution.
  • Conducts meetings to review project status and ensures safety and compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of practical work experience in a supervisory capacity related to systems management or as a maintenance engineer.
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering may substitute for 3 years of experience.
  • Department of Public Safety Construction Supervisor license is preferred.
  • Department of Public Safety Refrigeration Technician license is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of State Building Codes, NFPA codes, State elevator code, and BOCA code.
  • Knowledge of building materials and their use in maintenance and operation of large buildings.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints and plans, estimating costs for renovations, and supervising skilled technical staff.
  • Working knowledge of automated energy management systems and Direct Digital control systems.
  • Experience utilizing a computerized work order system for maintenance activities.
