About the position

The Facilities Technician at Houston Methodist is responsible for performing various maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of the hospital's facilities. This role involves conducting safety and preventative maintenance inspections, completing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting repairs, and participating in the maintenance and testing of emergency systems. The technician collaborates with team members to promote a positive work environment and enhance service levels within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety and preventative maintenance inspections on facilities.
  • Complete basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting repairs as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and co-workers to maintain a quality work environment.
  • Assist in maintaining the operation of central plants and daily facility operations.
  • Conduct basic analysis, troubleshooting, and general maintenance repairs.
  • Prioritize work activities to optimize response times on work order tickets.
  • Follow department safety standards and policies during all procedures.
  • Document work orders accurately and monitor inventory of maintenance supplies.
  • Participate in department projects and continuing education programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education (GED or similar).
  • Two years of general maintenance experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Basic knowledge of trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
