About the position

The Facilities Technician I at Glencroft Center for Modern Aging is responsible for performing entry-level maintenance and repair tasks across various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and more. This role requires a genuine interest in supporting geriatric and disabled individuals, ensuring a safe and functional living environment for residents. The technician will work under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor or Manager and will be expected to make independent decisions regarding daily facility responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor structural repairs, including replacing doors, installing locks, and drywall repairs.
• Conduct minor repairs of flooring, plumbing, water heaters, boilers, and electrical systems.
• Assist in the development and administration of preventative maintenance procedures.
• Be available for 24-hour emergency and call-out situations.
• Establish professional working relationships with staff, contractors, vendors, and residents.
• Utilize hand and power tools common to the trade safely and effectively.
• Participate in safety meetings and adhere to safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate fluently in English.
• Experience with power tools and basic maintenance tasks.
• Entry-level experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
