About the position

The Facilities Warehouse Manager at Mayo Clinic is responsible for overseeing the operations of a large warehouse facility that spans over 100,000 square feet. This facility plays a crucial role in supporting project delivery by coordinating the short-term storage of various materials, including new and used construction materials, owner-supplied equipment, carpets, and furniture. The manager will be tasked with managing the logistics and distribution of these materials, ensuring that they are efficiently stored and readily accessible for projects within the Mayo Clinic buildings. In this role, the Facilities Warehouse Manager will implement strategies to increase the turnover of materials stored in the warehouse and provide access to surplus items for the Mayo Clinic Health System. Collaboration with facilities staff is essential to support just-in-time deliveries, which are critical for project timelines. The manager will also work closely with construction industry partners to optimize the use of Mayo Clinic space on the main campus, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. Additionally, the manager will monitor production and materials used in various support shops, such as the cabinet shop, paint shop, and upholstery shop, which are integral to construction activities. The role includes overseeing approximately 30 contracted staff members and ensuring that an effective inventory tracking system is in place. The Facilities Warehouse Manager will also manage relationships with outside vendors for the disposal or recycling of salvaged items, contributing to the sustainability efforts of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of the Facilities Warehouse, ensuring efficient management of a 100,000+ SF facility.
  • Coordinate short-term storage of construction materials, equipment, and furniture for project delivery.
  • Manage logistics and distribution of materials stored in the warehouse.
  • Implement methods to increase turnover of materials stored in the warehouse.
  • Provide access to surplus furniture and construction materials for Mayo Clinic Health System.
  • Collaborate with facilities staff to support just-in-time deliveries for project delivery.
  • Work with construction industry partners to minimize space utilization on the main campus.
  • Monitor production and materials used in the cabinet shop, paint shop, and upholstery shop.
  • Monitor archive storage space for FPS and implement processes to streamline material delivery.
  • Oversee approximately 30 contracted staff members in the warehouse operations.
  • Ensure an inventory tracking system is utilized and maintained, communicating updates to stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with outside vendors for disposal or recycling of salvaged facilities items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Bachelor of Science preferred).
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience in warehouse management or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping, storage, receiving, and distribution techniques.
  • Ability to perform financial analysis related to material storage costs.
  • Understanding of the project delivery process and ability to meet strict schedules.
  • High level of decision-making ability and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make necessary decisions for smooth operations.
