About the position

The Facility and Maintenance Worker at Temple Habonim is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the synagogue and its grounds. This part-time role involves a variety of tasks including cleaning, minor repairs, and event setup, ensuring a welcoming environment for the community. The ideal candidate should be reliable, self-motivated, and possess a keen eye for detail, with experience in facility maintenance and the ability to perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Keep the building clean by washing floors, cleaning windows, vacuuming carpets, and disinfecting bathrooms.
• Perform necessary cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
• Take recycling to the recycling center on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
• Restock bathroom supplies and maintain inventory of cleaning materials.
• Perform minor yard upkeep and snow removal as needed.
• Complete regular maintenance tasks like replacing light bulbs and air filters.
• Inspect the building regularly for maintenance needs and troubleshoot equipment.
• Maintain clean storage spaces and organize janitorial closets.
• Set up and break down tables and chairs for events, including cleaning before and after.
• Report to the Temple Administrator regarding maintenance issues and progress.

Requirements

• Maintenance and cleaning experience.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and perform minor repairs.
• Must pass a National Criminal Background Check.
• Professional communication skills with supervisors and staff.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to learn new skills.
• Availability to work occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays.
