About the position

The Facility Condition Assessor at Roth IAMS is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, architectural, and structural components. This role involves utilizing proprietary software for data collection and reporting, preparing detailed reports with findings and recommendations, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. The position requires strong technical writing skills, effective communication with clients, and the ability to manage project timelines and costs. The Facility Assessor will also assist with energy audits, ADA audits, and facility usage reviews, contributing to the overall operational excellence of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct on-site visual assessments of building systems including roof, envelope, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Utilize proprietary software for data collection and reporting, including SLAM CAP, VFA, and AssetPlanner.
  • Review drawings for quantity take-offs and prepare multi-discipline Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs) and other investigative reports.
  • Maintain high-quality written reports, ensuring they are proofread and peer-reviewed before submission.
  • Manage project timelines and costs to ensure project profitability.
  • Assist with energy audits and ADA audits, providing observations, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Conduct inventory of building systems, collecting relevant information and applying equipment tags.
  • Assist in planning and overseeing projects through to completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Civil/Structural, or Building Science.
  • Over five years of related Facility Assessment or industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent technical writing skills for concise reporting based on project-specific evidence.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with project teams and clients.
  • Knowledge of building components and FCA methodology, including ASTM Uniformat II Classification System.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with capital planning software is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle for travel to project sites.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1, EnergyStar, and Federal Energy Incentive programs.
  • Experience with construction materials, deterioration mechanisms, and repair methods.
