About the position

The General Manager at Clean Harbors in Baltimore, MD, is responsible for overseeing the facility's operations, including waste management, health and safety compliance, and profit and loss management. This role emphasizes a strong commitment to safety and compliance while managing staff and ensuring operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
  • Managing the facility to clean compliance standards and measuring against the CCP KPI's.
  • Managing processing of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes according to regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Working closely with the safety department to enhance and improve safety within the facility.
  • Partnering with Facility Compliance Manager to maintain facility compliance.
  • Managing and ensuring accurate and timely analytical, final coding, and billing of materials.
  • Working closely with National Logistics to ensure proper outbound management of waste materials.
  • Responsible for management of profit and loss statement according to budgeted revenue and percentages.
  • Training and development of plant employees and mentoring current and future managers.
  • Management of maintenance department including oversight of preventative maintenance systems.
  • Assuring facility is properly maintained, clean, and presentable for customer audits and tours.
  • Developing and assuring a good working relationship with local Field Service and Technical Services GM and Logistics Managers.
  • Performing other duties and tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or Science related field required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in chemical/hazardous waste processing can be used in lieu of a degree.
  • Supervisory or management experience in chemical operations preferred.
  • P&L/Budget experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Federal, state and local environmental regulations.
  • Excellent labor relations skills preferred.
  • OSHA Training and experience.
