About the position
The Facility Maintenance Coordinator at the City of Chesapeake is responsible for overseeing facility technicians and contractors in the maintenance and repair of all City facilities. This role involves coordinating mechanical maintenance, supervising staff, advising on technical issues, and assisting with budget preparation and administrative tasks. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple responsibilities and respond to emergency situations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee mechanical maintenance and repairs at all City facilities.
- Supervise facility technicians and contractors performing maintenance functions.
- Inspect fire protection systems, elevators, and conduct alarms testing.
- Advise the Superintendent, Project Manager, and Municipal Facilities Administrator on maintenance issues.
- Assist with budget preparation and job estimates.
- Develop maintenance procedures and deal with outside inspectors/officials.
- Participate in process improvement activities and workgroups.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in engineering, architecture, building trades, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
- Valid driver's license with a compliant driving record.
