About the position

The Facility Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing construction, maintenance, and repair activities at one or more facilities within the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. This role involves managing subordinate maintenance personnel, ensuring the operability of facility utilities, and coordinating with contractors and vendors. The position requires broad direction from higher-level officials and entails significant budgetary responsibilities and independent decision-making regarding facility operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction, maintenance, and repair activities at one or more facilities.
• Supervise subordinate maintenance personnel and oversee their job duties.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for maintenance and repair tasks.
• Prepare and review construction and maintenance documents and expenditures for contracts and projects.
• Approve purchasing requests up to approved limits.
• Maintain records related to all facility activities and expenditures.
• Review and evaluate performance of subordinate personnel and contractors.
• Prepare facility-related information and reports for budget justifications.
• Implement and direct training and safety programs for all personnel.
• Respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis as required.

Requirements

• Five years of experience in building construction trades, building maintenance, or road/bridge construction.
• College training may substitute for required experience (30 semester hours for 1 year of experience).
• Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in relevant fields may substitute for two years of experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Energy and Automation Management systems.
• Knowledge of facility landscaping and grounds maintenance.
