About the position

The Facility Maintenance Manager at GEO Corrections & Detentions is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of multiple facilities or a larger complex facility. This position ensures that the physical structure and plant are maintained in a timely and cost-efficient manner. The Facility Maintenance Manager supervises a maintenance staff or outside construction vendors who are tasked with various remodeling, maintenance services, and repairs across a range of areas including plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, janitorial services, general grounds maintenance, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, security, and electrical systems. In this role, the Facility Maintenance Manager coordinates with the Corporate Project Development team to manage construction or remodeling programs, ensuring that all work is completed on schedule. This includes obtaining necessary permits before projects commence and inspecting completed work to ensure it meets blueprints, specifications, and standards. The manager is also responsible for authorizing payments for completed work and developing maintenance budgets, notifying management of any discrepancies in maintenance costs. The Facility Maintenance Manager reviews production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements to ensure timely completion of projects and work orders. They establish, prioritize, and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules while monitoring Building Automation Systems (BAS) to analyze energy usage and costs, seeking cost-effective approaches to reduce expenses. Additionally, the manager directs maintenance workers in various tasks, requisitions necessary tools and supplies, interprets company policies, enforces safety regulations, and suggests improvements to enhance work efficiency. This role may also involve supervising inmates or detainees receiving training in maintenance skills and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain time and production records and confer with supervisors to coordinate activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Five years of experience in construction, plumbing, electricity, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, or related work.
  • Journeyman's certification in one or more trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or carpentry preferred.
  • Certification as a building maintenance supervisor or Facility Manager preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to calculate estimates and amounts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in various situations.
  • Ability to use computers and typical software products used by the business unit.
