The Facility Maintenance Specialist 1 position at the Woodlawn Armory in Cincinnati, Ohio, is designed to ensure that all equipment and buildings are operational and efficient. This role is critical in maintaining the functionality of facilities that support the Ohio National Guard's mission. Under the immediate supervision of the Building Maintenance Superintendent 1, the specialist will perform basic preventative maintenance and repairs on various building systems. This includes installing and replacing lighting fixtures, light bulbs, ballasts, switches, receptacles, and fuses. The specialist will also engage in basic wiring tasks for single and three-phase motors, as well as minor plumbing repairs, such as fixing sewer lines, toilets, valves, and sinks. The role requires the ability to cut, solder, and thread pipes, unclog drains and toilets, and perform routine maintenance on HVAC and mechanical room equipment. In addition to these tasks, the Facility Maintenance Specialist 1 will assist higher-level workers with more advanced maintenance tasks, including the operation and maintenance of low-pressure boilers. Responsibilities also include cleaning and repairing various equipment, such as feed water pumps, oil pumps, electric motors, turbines, and air compressors. The specialist will be expected to perform minor repairs and routine preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, which may involve changing belts, fluids, filters, and lubricating equipment. The role also encompasses performing and assisting with building repairs, which may include erecting walls, plastering, pouring and finishing concrete, and installing drywall surfaces. The specialist will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment, which includes cleaning and oiling tools, sweeping floors, stocking supplies, and taking inventory. The position may also require operating snow and ice removal equipment, groundskeeping equipment, and other machinery as needed. The specialist will be expected to independently make decisions on how to efficiently perform assigned repairs and maintenance tasks, while also communicating with agency personnel regarding maintenance issues and plans. Overall, this position is vital for ensuring that the facilities are well-maintained and that the Ohio National Guard can effectively serve the community and the state.
