About the position

The Facility Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the mission of PenMet Parks by ensuring the maintenance and operations of all District parks, buildings, facilities, and infrastructure. This position involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks, implementing preventative maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with safety and service standards. The specialist will work under the supervision of the Parks Superintendent and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned work required to sustain a comprehensive maintenance and operations program for all District facilities.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks including plumbing, concrete, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, painting, and more.
  • Implement and sustain a preventative maintenance program.
  • Manage a work order system for maintenance tasks.
  • Inspect facilities and take corrective action to meet service standards and compliance requirements.
  • Perform clean-up activities to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Keep records of building maintenance systems and repairs.
  • Participate in decision making, goal setting, and planning for building maintenance.
  • Support District programs and special events as assigned.
  • Take responsibility for accomplishing work and meeting organizational objectives.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment that respects diverse ideas and backgrounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of maintenance experience with emphasis on commercial building systems (three years preferred).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid First Aid certificate issued by an authorized agency.
  • Technical skills in installation and repair of various building systems including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and more.
  • Knowledge of maintenance, operations, custodial, and safety programs.
  • Ability to read and apply construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with estimating and material procurement.
  • Knowledge of current federal, state, and local regulations impacting maintenance and safety operations.
