About the position

The Facility Manager - Critical Environments is responsible for ensuring the maintenance and continuous operation of all data center systems, including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, and digital systems. This role involves managing a critical environments team, developing maintenance plans, ensuring safety compliance, and overseeing contractor activities. The Facility Manager will also be responsible for staff development, performance tracking, and maintaining regulatory compliance within the data center environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure maintenance and continuous operation of all data center systems including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, and digital systems.
  • Utilize staff and contract with outside vendors as necessary.
  • Develop, review, and approve Critical Environment work efforts.
  • Manage critical environments team including hiring, training, and personal development.
  • Identify maintenance objectives and incorporate them into a documented plan.
  • Identify safety hazards and implement remediation strategies.
  • Administer and manage safety training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines.
  • Develop CAPEX and OPEX plans for infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
  • Provide technical input and support for facility projects and modifications.
  • Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the data center.
  • Oversee activities of contractors working within the data center.
  • Prepare and report on KPIs to track team performance.
  • Ensure Data Center Work Rules are understood by all staff and contractors.
  • Provide overall facility services in accordance with standard processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Seven to ten years of engineering experience in a data center or critical facility.
  • Five to seven years of supervisory experience.
  • Moderate knowledge of manual trades such as carpentry and electromechanical repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and technical procedures.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
