About the position

We are seeking a Facility Manager to lead day-to-day Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities at a leading organization. This role is crucial in aligning operations with the company's Vision, Mission, and Values. Reporting to the Regional Operations Area Manager, the Facility Manager will oversee all aspects of facility safety, environmental compliance, operations, maintenance, outage and project planning, engineering, procurement, continuous improvement, client relationships, and financial performance. The Facility Manager will provide outstanding leadership to foster a high-performing culture and achieve or exceed operational budget commitments. This includes developing and managing O&M budgets and Long-Term Maintenance Plans to ensure operational excellence and maximize financial contributions. Utilizing data and experience to make informed decisions is essential to ensure safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally responsible plant operations. In this role, the Facility Manager will oversee all O&M activities, including waste processing, thermal treatment, and by-product management. Ensuring facility Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) excellence by adhering to all policies, procedures, and regulations is a key responsibility. The Facility Manager will integrate core values into daily operations to build and sustain a culture of excellence and lead facility response during transients, emergencies, and other critical situations to safeguard employees, the environment, and assets. The position also involves developing budget targets and forecasts to optimize facility financial performance, including contingency plans for unforeseen issues. The Facility Manager will oversee the execution of outages, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget, while managing maintenance activities to meet reliability and production goals, including preventive and predictive maintenance. Creating and maintaining robust Long-Term Maintenance Plans to enhance facility reliability is also a critical aspect of this role. Additionally, the Facility Manager will supervise the development and execution of capital and maintenance projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets are met. Utilizing best practices and KPIs to drive operational excellence and making conservative decisions will be essential. The Facility Manager will foster a Lean mindset to challenge the status quo and drive improvements in revenue, cost, and production, collaborating with regional, corporate, and external experts to address emergent issues and ensure facility operations remain safe and efficient. Acting as the primary contact for operational and technical issues at the facility, maintaining exceptional customer focus is also a key responsibility. The Facility Manager must remain engaged and on-call as needed to ensure continuous safe and reliable facility operations, including periodic travel. Ensuring employees are trained to handle emergencies effectively and supporting community outreach and government relations are also part of the role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in Waste to Energy/Thermomechanical Treatment Facilities (WtE/TTF) or utility power generation, including 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Extensive experience in planning and executing outages and projects, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost commitments.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of Safety/Environmental excellence and maintain successful client relationships.
  • Proven track record in financial management, continuous improvement, and regulatory interactions.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, technical, or business fields required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • ASME CFO Certification and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher are highly desired.
  • PMP Certification is also highly desirable.
