About the position

The Facility Manager (FM-2) at Powderhorn Elementary School is responsible for supervising custodial staff and ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of the school facilities. This role involves administrative tasks related to school property management, maintaining a secure learning environment, and coordinating various activities within the school. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Supervise custodial staff in a facility between 52,501 and 75,000 square feet.
• Perform housekeeping throughout the building and grounds, including snow removal and lawn maintenance.
• Communicate with students, staff, community members, and supervisors to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• Perform preventive and minor maintenance functions and maintain records.
• Coordinate and schedule school facilities for public and school use and activities.
• Inspect building and grounds daily for appearance standards, safety, fire hazards, and maintenance needs.
• Verify proper operation of heating, ventilation, and fire alarm systems.
• Requisition custodial supplies within allocated budget.
• Train custodial staff in emergency procedures and equipment operations.
• Select, train, evaluate staff, and initiate corrective actions regarding custodians.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED required.
• 36 months custodial experience required.
• 12 months of supervisory experience required.
• Must have completed the First Line Supervisory Course.
• Ability to interact positively and cooperatively with students, staff, and community.
