About the position

The position will lead and develop the team(s) to meet various obligations required for operating the Sunzia HVDC Converters and transmission facilities for Pattern Energy operating sites. This role involves managing two HVDC Converter Stations, a 500+ miles 500kV HVDC bipole transmission line, telecom sites, and two 345kV AC switchyard facilities. The successful candidate will ensure a positive working environment by maintaining discipline, morale, and employee relations. Responsibilities include preparing performance reviews, salary recommendations, and disciplinary recommendations, as well as managing the hiring and training of personnel on site. Oversight of OEM contractors and all contractors is also a key responsibility, along with ensuring that all personnel on site are enabled to work safely and are aware of the importance of stopping work as required. The role requires driving an injury-free workplace culture by facilitating safe work habits, hazard recognition, risk assessment, peer-to-peer feedback, and proper use of human performance tools. The candidate will be responsible for meeting or exceeding production and financial targets, working closely with Asset Management and Accounting to manage P&L, including budget planning, management, and reporting. Understanding customer and transmission service provider requirements is essential to minimize customer impacts while ensuring maintenance service providers and regulatory entities are included in the annual outage planning process. Participation in joint operating committees with the transmission operator, transmission service provider, and third-party maintenance companies is necessary to strengthen facility coordination. The candidate will monitor facility performance, investigate and correct abnormal conditions to maximize the value of the operating site/asset, and support warranty investigations and failure investigations with third-party subject matter experts and the original equipment manufacturer. Additionally, managing facility and corporate procedures, policies, training programs, safety programs, and related updates as required is part of the role. In partnership with External Affairs, the candidate will implement and maintain the facility's Community Engagement Plan, supporting community engagement through site tours, stakeholder meetings, and community events.
