About the position

The Facility Manager at Grand Central Neighborhood Social Services Corporation is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of a 24/7 facility that serves the homeless population. This role involves coordinating repairs, managing maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate system repairs and monitor system performance.
  • Maintain adequate parts inventory and order items as necessary.
  • Oversee and supervise a team of Maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate with the Shelter Director on the implementation of new building projects and maintenance for inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.
  • Conduct and document regular facilities inspections of emergency lights, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and other necessary equipment.
  • Obtain quotes from vendors and suppliers and order supplies as needed.
  • Manage contractor and vendor relationships.
  • Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met.
  • Meet regularly with the immediate supervisor to enhance professional growth and address administrative issues.
  • Attend all staff meetings to contribute to program issues and updates.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience providing services to the homeless and low-income population.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Work management and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Must have S-12 Boiler Certificate of Fitness and P-99 Boiler Certificate of Fitness.
