About the position

Rappahannock Community College (RCC) is seeking a dedicated Facility Manager to oversee the operations at the Warsaw campus. This full-time classified staff position is crucial for ensuring the effective management of all facility and equipment repair and maintenance, groundskeeping, and housekeeping. The Facility Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and Administration and will be responsible for developing campus operation budgets, managing construction projects, and administering contracts. This role requires a proactive approach to implementing preventative and emergency maintenance plans, ensuring the safety and security of the campus, and coordinating campus events. The Facility Manager will work closely with the Facility Manager at the Glenns campus to maintain HVAC systems and ensure that all maintenance operations are conducted efficiently. The position also involves supervising campus housekeeping, maintenance, and groundskeeping operations, which are essential for providing a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong leadership skills, as they will be responsible for supervising a diverse group of facilities personnel and ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed to a high standard. In addition to the technical aspects of the role, the Facility Manager will play a key role in fostering a culture of inclusivity and collaboration within the college community. Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and oversight of all facility and equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Manage construction projects and administer contracts.
  • Develop campus operation budgets.
  • Direct campus housekeeping, maintenance, and groundskeeping operations.
  • Implement preventative and emergency maintenance plans.
  • Supervise and maintain all campus safety, security, and fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate campus events.
  • Work closely with the Glenns campus Facility Manager to ensure proper maintenance of HVAC systems.

Requirements

  • Prior management experience in a facilities role.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of personnel, faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance systems.
  • Advanced working knowledge of maintenance hand tools, machinery, power tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet various maintenance skills and functions.
  • Practical experience in commercial maintenance and installation fields.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Computer literacy.
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Valid Virginia driver's license.
  • Ability to acquire a commercial pesticide license.
