About the position

The Facility Manager at Jewish Council for Youth Services (JCYS) is responsible for maintaining the condition and functionality of the Buffalo Grove location. This role involves overseeing daily maintenance tasks, ensuring the safe operation of the facility, and managing various building systems. The Facility Manager will also coordinate with vendors and communicate with the Facilities Director regarding maintenance issues.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the daily maintenance and safe operation of the facility
• Oversee the cleanliness and functioning of all building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, and plumbing
• Perform seasonal responsibilities such as light landscaping and snow removal
• Ensure all maintenance programs, activities, and projects are accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner
• Communicate regularly with the Facilities Director to ensure effective communication concerning maintenance issues
• Secure vendors of all types and orchestrate the bidding process
• Maintain a broad understanding of construction, materials, and various building trades
• Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
• Perform all other duties or responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• 5+ years of on-site, hands-on maintenance experience required
• High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
• Knowledge of standard practices of HVAC and refrigeration
• Ability to work effectively as a self-starter and as a member of a larger team
