About the position

The Facility Manager at Crystal Clean, LLC is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all operations at the California Hazardous Waste Treatment and Disposal Facility, as well as the Categorical Wastewater Pre-Treatment Facility. This position entails directing and coordinating all processing activities, which includes assessing the processing limitations and capabilities of both staff and equipment to ensure effective handling of all received materials. The Facility Manager will also manage on-site transfers and the loading and off-loading of materials, as well as scheduling tankers, railcars, and box trailers in collaboration with both internal and external customers. In addition to operational oversight, the Facility Manager is responsible for managing all site personnel, ensuring compliance with all relevant permits associated with facility operations, and maintaining accurate records of facility activities. This role also involves inventory management, interfacing with sales to fulfill orders, coordinating disposal shipments with third-party treatment and disposal facilities, and overseeing the transfer of waste materials into the site for processing. The Facility Manager will also support purchasing activities and corporate reporting for the department. The essential duties of this position include promoting safety and efficiency among all facility employees, ensuring that the facility and equipment are properly maintained, and identifying key business opportunities to drive growth and profitability. The Facility Manager will outline daily, weekly, and monthly objectives for employees and provide regular updates to senior management regarding facility activities. Training and counseling of employees to foster personal and professional growth is also a critical component of this role. Furthermore, the Facility Manager will coordinate the scheduling of railcars, tankers, and box trailers, and report activities to Operations Management and Corporate Accounting. Overall, the Facility Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the facility while adhering to established corporate and regulatory guidelines, and presenting a positive image of Heritage-Crystal Clean to employees, regulatory agencies, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all processing activities at the facility.
  • Manage on-site transfers and loading/off-loading activities.
  • Schedule tankers, railcars, and box trailers with internal and external customers.
  • Oversee daily activities of operating site personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with all permits associated with facility operations.
  • Manage inventory at the site and interface with sales for fulfilling orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical sciences is highly preferred.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of waste processing experience with relevant processes.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with industrial waste processing equipment operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with industrial wastewater pre-treatment.
  • Experience with environmental permitting, plant design, vendor management, and construction.
  • Shipping and receiving experience required in similar industries and volumes.
  • Experience managing within a regulatory environment including RCRA, CWA, CAL EPA, DOT, OSHA.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook required; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • P&L Management experience.
