About the position

The Facility Operations Lead at The Salvation Army Intermountain Division is responsible for ensuring that the facility and its grounds are maintained in a clean and safe condition at all times. This role encompasses a variety of tasks including custodial duties, maintenance, repairs, and event setups to ensure the functionality of the facility. The Facility Operations Lead will also be tasked with building opening, closing, and security responsibilities, making it a critical position for the overall operation of the facility. In this role, the Facility Operations Lead will provide key leadership to the night crew, supervising the maintenance staff to ensure that all work is completed efficiently and effectively. This includes overseeing custodial staff, maintaining cleanliness and safety in both private and public areas, and performing necessary repairs and preventative maintenance on various facilities and equipment. The Lead will also be responsible for adhering to a daily custodial schedule, which includes tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning restrooms and fitness equipment. Additionally, the Facility Operations Lead will assist in preparing venues for events, maintain an inventory of supplies, and ensure that all custodial work areas are kept neat and organized. The role requires the Lead to develop skills through continuing education and to provide leadership during emergency situations, ensuring the security of the facility by monitoring entry points and reporting any suspicious activities. The position also involves pool water testing and oversight, as well as leading the setup crew for events based on provided information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide key leadership to night crew by example.
  • Supervise night maintenance crew to ensure work is completed.
  • Supervise and assist assigned custodial staff in the performance of their duties.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of all private and public areas to assure that the users of the facility receive safe, effective and acceptable service.
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance procedures on assigned areas and equipment such as restrooms, public areas, trash containment areas and any public or work area.
  • Maintain the appearance of the facilities by adhering to assigned duties to assure an attractive safe and functional facility is presented to members, guests, and employees.
  • Adhere to, and if necessary, adjust daily custodial schedule of the building to accomplish all tasks.
  • Keep all custodial work areas and closets neat and clean.
  • Assist in the preparation of venues for events as required.
  • Assist in the execution of events as directed by a supervisor.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment and notify supervisor when purchases are needed.
  • Develop skills, attend continuing education sessions and attain personal qualifications standards to ensure the technical competency and teamwork required to provide quality service.
  • Provide leadership in emergency action plans and evacuations.
  • Ensure the security of the facility by checking and securing all entry points to the facility as appropriate.
  • Report inappropriate or suspicious persons or activities to your immediate supervisor.
  • Assist in the general security of the facility.
  • Provide pool water testing and oversight, as directed.
  • Responsible for opening and closing duties as assigned per schedule.
  • Assist with security activities as directed by the Building & Systems Manager.
  • Lead set-up crew in the execution of events based on event sheet information or work orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the following: Competition Pool, Cove Pool, Indoor Spa, Outdoor Spa, Locker Room/Cabanas, Mechanical Room, Chemical Rooms, and Storage Rooms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • CPO/AFO Certification required (must obtain within six months of hire).
  • Ability to reason and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks at once.
  • Must be willing to work a varied shift (nights, weekends, etc.).
  • Able to work with all ethnic and socio-economic populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPO/AFO Certification preferred.
