About the position

The Facility Operations Manager for the Fertilizer plant will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations of a state-of-the-art agronomy facility located in Western North Dakota. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong background in agronomy and fertilizer management, as the primary responsibility will be to manage and operate the fertilizer plant, ensuring that all equipment and personnel are functioning efficiently and safely. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for agricultural grower customers, building and maintaining positive relationships to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the facility, the Facility Operations Manager will be responsible for supervising both full-time and seasonal employees. This includes utilizing best management practices for inventory control, operating various types of equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and front-end loaders, and maintaining all company assets, including equipment and facilities. The manager will also assist in maintaining necessary records and reports to comply with government regulations, ensuring that the facility operates within legal and safety standards. The role requires a strong focus on safety, promoting a safe work environment for all employees while efficiently using materials and machines. The Facility Operations Manager will also play a key role in controlling operational expenses related to personnel and maintenance costs, supporting the company's policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate the Fertilizer Plant, Equipment, and Personnel.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with agricultural grower customers as the first point of contact.
  • Supervise all full-time and seasonal employees affiliated with the plant.
  • Utilize best management practices for inventory control.
  • Operate all equipment including forklift, skid steer, and front-end loader.
  • Maintain all equipment, facilities, and other company assets.
  • Safely and efficiently use materials and machines.
  • Assist with maintaining records and reports necessary to comply with government regulations.
  • Assist in operational expense control regarding employees and maintenance costs.
  • Support and comply with all company policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; 2- or 4-year degree beneficial.
  • Ag background and experience overseeing an Agronomy facility preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising Agronomy Operations personnel preferred.
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment, machinery, and hand tools is a must.
  • Safety-focused with the ability to maintain and promote a strong safety work environment.
  • Solid communication skills, including verbal and written, as well as timely record keeping and reporting.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
