About the position

The Facility Operations Manager at the Hoover Met Complex is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the management of various facilities within this premier sports, recreation, and entertainment destination. This position is integral to ensuring that all facilities, including the Met Stadium, Finley Center, Hoover Heights Climbing Center, RV Park, and multiple sports fields, are maintained to the highest standards. The Facility Operations Manager will work closely with a team to provide first-class experiences for all guests, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and that the facilities are organized and clutter-free. This role requires a proactive approach to facility management, including the setup and teardown of events, maintaining cleanliness in the grounds and parking lots, and ensuring that all facilities are in pristine condition at all times. In addition to managing the physical aspects of the facilities, the Facility Operations Manager will lead and supervise a team of Facility Operations Event Coordinators and Shift Leads. This includes mentoring team members, delegating tasks, and ensuring that customer service standards are met. The manager will also be responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, scheduling, and, if necessary, terminating part-time facility operations employees. Establishing positive working relationships with various city departments, including Park Maintenance and Public Works, is essential for the success of this role. The Facility Operations Manager will collaborate with event management staff to ensure that all event details are executed flawlessly, from setup to breakdown. This includes developing and implementing routine maintenance schedules for all facilities, coordinating cleaning services during and after events, and inspecting the grounds daily to maintain a debris-free environment. The manager will also be responsible for submitting work orders as needed and maintaining constant communication with city liaisons regarding the status of these orders. This position requires flexibility in working hours, as the manager may need to work nights, weekends, and holidays as events dictate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Facility Operations Event Coordinators and Shift Leads through mentorship and delegation.
  • Manage part-time facility operations employees including hiring, training, evaluating, scheduling, and terminating as necessary.
  • Establish positive working relationships with the City of Hoover Park Maintenance, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation departments.
  • Collaborate with event management staff on event details to ensure setups and breakdowns are met and delivered.
  • Work with event rightsholders to meet expectations for their events.
  • Develop and implement routine maintenance schedules for all facilities.
  • Coordinate schedules for during-event and post-event cleaning services.
  • Inspect grounds daily to ensure a debris-free environment and evaluate cleaning staff responsibilities.
  • Monitor walkways, entryways, and flowerbeds to keep clear of weeds and trash.
  • Submit work orders through City of Hoover liaisons and communicate on the status of pending work orders.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned.
  • Responsible for daily opening and closing of the facility.
  • Work within established budget and perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in facility management, recreation, sports management, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience managing various facilities, including setup and teardown, scheduling employees, and maintaining grounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and negotiating skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain them within a specified period.
  • Current Certified Pool and Spa Operator certification or willingness to obtain it upon hire.
  • Current Forklift Operator certification or willingness to obtain it upon hire.
