About the position

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station is seeking a Facility Operations Specialist (NH-1640-02, GS 5-11 Equivalent). This position is a TERM role, not to exceed 3 years, and offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of spaceflight operations. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can manage and oversee facility operations, maintenance, repair, improvement, renovation, and construction activities. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of facility management principles and practices, as well as the ability to develop and implement effective facility management strategies. As a Facility Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for developing annual and long-range facility master plans to forecast and secure funding for various projects. You will oversee facility management resources, including personnel, service contracts, financial programs, space utilization, and information resources. Additionally, you will manage preventive maintenance, repair, and construction work to ensure the safe and reliable operation of facilities. Your role will also involve implementing and evaluating programs to manage safety risks, including fire safety and emergency response, as well as managing risks associated with hazardous materials and waste. Furthermore, you will be responsible for implementing the Physical Security/Antiterrorism Program for the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a background in facility management, civil engineering, or a closely related field, along with a comprehensive knowledge of facility management methods, policies, and procedures. You should have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams, as well as experience in using automated systems for document management. Strong analytical skills are essential for evaluating program goals and objectives, identifying issues, and proposing effective solutions. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary to present complex data clearly and establish effective working relationships with coworkers and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop annual and long-range facility master plans to forecast and secure funding for projects.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift at least 45 lbs
  • 3 years of experience in facility management or a related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of facility management principles and practices
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams
  • Basic knowledge of Air Force budgeting principles and contracting regulations
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
