About the position

The Facility Operations Specialist position at the FBI's Chicago Field Office is responsible for the operation and maintenance of field office facilities, ensuring a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment. This role involves a variety of administrative services, including facility inspections, maintenance coordination, budget management, and compliance with safety regulations. The position requires a proactive approach to facility management and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain field office facilities, including physical structures and utilities.
• Perform administrative services to inspect, maintain, and repair facilities.
• Revise and redesign graphic layouts for practical and cost-effective space utilization.
• Coordinate evaluations of building maintenance and repairs, including electrical and HVAC systems.
• Conduct onsite inspections and create punch lists for repairs.
• Determine funding requirements and justify budget requests.
• Assist in developing and monitoring budgets and expenditures.
• Liaise with FBIHQ for SCIF renovation and procurement of office spaces.
• Serve as the point of contact for GSA issues related to the field office.
• Coordinate administration of space acquisitions and maintenance.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Ability to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance.
• Experience in facilities project management and maintenance coordination.
• Specialized experience equivalent to GS 9 or GS 11 level, depending on the grade applied for.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with OSHA compliance and safety inspections.
• Knowledge of budget development and monitoring processes.
