About the position

In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact between the Public Works Officer and the specific commands and tenants under his/her cognizance. Your main responsibility will be to ensure that their facilities are professionally maintained to meet mission requirements. You will monitor services and expenditures to ensure the proper availability of funds, and perform work monitoring to ensure that facility assignments are being completed in a timely manner. Additionally, you will ensure that MAXIMO reflects an accurate inventory for assigned buildings. You will be responsible for screening, classifying, and submitting requests for various types of shop work, as well as contracted work. Conducting and attending meetings and visits to identify any facility problems that have developed will be a key part of your duties. You will facilitate work execution and advise on supported command projects. This position requires you to work independently and collaboratively with various team members, including Planners, Interdisciplinary Engineers, and Facility Service Contract Managers, especially where work overlaps. This position is critical in maintaining the operational readiness of facilities and ensuring that all maintenance and repair work is executed efficiently and effectively. You will be expected to apply technical principles, directives, and methods of facility management to maintain facilities and facility assets in good working order, while also applying financial regulations to determine the correct type of funding for facility and equipment issues. Your ability to forecast usage rates and recommend proper prioritization of facility and equipment requirements will be essential to the success of this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy must pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service if born after 12-31-59.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must complete training and maintain a government credit card for travel-related purchases.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment continuously for the duration of the work shift.
