About the position

The Facility Operations Specialist position at the FBI's Chicago Field Office is responsible for the operation and maintenance of field office facilities, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. This role involves a variety of administrative services, facility inspections, budget management, and coordination with various entities to maintain and improve facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains field office facilities, including physical structures and utilities.
  • Performs administrative services to inspect, maintain, and repair facilities.
  • Revises and redesigns graphic layouts for practical and cost-effective facility use.
  • Coordinates evaluation of building maintenance and repairs, including electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Conducts onsite inspections and creates punch lists for repairs.
  • Determines funding requirements and assists in budget development and monitoring.
  • Liaisons with FBI HQ for SCIF renovations and office space requirements.
  • Serves as the point of contact for GSA issues related to the field office.
  • Coordinates administration of space acquisitions and building operations.
  • Monitors contractor work to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Negotiates and administers lease agreements with FBI HQ.
  • Organizes meetings with GSA and other building management personnel to discuss facility matters.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS 9 for GS 11 applicants.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS 11 for GS 12 applicants.
  • Education in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration may substitute for experience at GS 11 level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with OSHA regulations and compliance.
