About the position

The Facility Operations Specialist at the GSA Office of Inspector General is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to manage OIG facilities. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with proposals, contracts, and safety standards while coordinating facility operations to create a secure and efficient work environment for employees.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a team member in completing various team-oriented projects to ensure high-level service is provided and facilities and services program goals and objectives are met.
  • Act as a technical expert and advisor to management regarding facilities management and logistics functions.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and management of logistics associated with the acquisition, renovation, and disposal of space.
  • Analyze requirements to maintain and operate various kinds of facilities, office space, and equipment.
  • Determine solutions to complex issues related to facility security, safety, and continuity of operations planning.
  • Prepare initial project scopes, descriptions, and justifications for necessary facility modifications.
  • Review and prioritize all deficiencies in maintenance, renovations, and office furniture.
  • Coordinate space alteration and tenant relocation projects, resolving complex issues and developing work orders.
  • Participate in meetings to update supervisors and higher-level officials on project developments, including costs and concerns.
  • Oversee Service Desk platform and respond to all requests, determining execution requirements and communicating with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island).
  • Meet all eligibility criteria within 30 days of the closing date.
  • Register with Selective Service if applicable.
  • Receive authorization from OPM on any job offer if applicable.
  • Serve a one-year probationary period if required.
  • Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 5 investigation level).
  • Complete a financial disclosure report to verify no conflict of interest exists.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the acquisition, construction, repair, and renovation of space.
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations impacting facility management.
  • Ability to develop space requirements including interior design and equipment needs.
