About the position

The Facility Operations Specialist position within the Department of Energy's Office of Management is responsible for supporting the planning and coordination of facility operations and maintenance for the Department's buildings and grounds. This role involves ensuring safe and orderly conditions, managing reports related to building operations, and performing quality assurance inspections on facility management contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Keep supervisor informed on status of all building operations projects.
  • Inspect buildings and grounds to ensure safe and orderly conditions.
  • Responsible for various reports related to buildings management operations, construction activities, fund expenditures, and general facilities services.
  • Perform Quality Assurance Inspections of aspects of a large facilities management contract.
  • Liaison with Procurement and Contracts staff for technical matters related to facility operation contracts.
  • Assist in scheduling and directing the relocation of office furniture and equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Must complete a one-year probationary period if selected.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Q level security clearance.
  • Must submit a Financial Disclosure Statement within 30 days of entering the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in facilities maintenance trades including structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of building operations and contracting procedures.
