About the position

The Facility Operations Specialist position at Mammoth Cave National Park involves providing technical and administrative support for the management of facilities and equipment. The role focuses on operational budgets, project management, and the maintenance and rehabilitation of park facilities. This is a term position expected to last at least 13 months, with the possibility of extension up to four years, and requires occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Support the organization of facilities and equipment through programmatic support and operational budgets.
• Independently perform technical and administrative work in Assets and Operations Management.
• Manage project management activities related to facility operation, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and development.
• Provide technical administrative support for long-range strategies for facility management.
• Research and compile technical data and prepare specifications and contracts for maintenance and upkeep of park facilities.

Requirements

• At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, including managing maintenance programs and conducting contract discussions.
• Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a related field.
• A combination of education and experience as described above.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in managing or overseeing maintenance programs for various facilities.
• Knowledge of contract requirements and project completion facilitation.
