About the position

As a Facility Operations Specialist with the Department of Defense, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining the operational integrity of facilities assigned to you. Your primary responsibility will be to provide updates to the Supported Command and NAVFAC management regarding all issues related to facility conditions and ongoing work efforts, including any outages that may occur. You will be expected to meet periodically with Points of Contact (POCs) from all Supported Commands to review work efforts and requirements, ensuring that communication remains clear and effective. In addition to these responsibilities, you will ensure that the MAXIMO system accurately reflects the current inventory of Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE) for the assigned buildings. This includes establishing and maintaining the relationships between the CIMU and RPIE. You will also be tasked with reviewing and validating the CIMU Condition Index (CI) calculated by BUILDER, initiating inspections as necessary to ensure that the CI accurately reflects the actual conditions of the facilities. Your role will require you to provide initial diagnoses of problems within the facilities, and if necessary, seek assistance from other parts of the NAVFAC organization. This position is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of the facilities and ensuring that they meet the standards required by the Department of Defense.

Responsibilities

  • Provide updates to Supported Command and NAVFAC management on facility conditions and work efforts.
  • Meet periodically with Supported Commands' Points of Contacts to review work efforts and requirements.
  • Ensure MAXIMO reflects an accurate CIMU and Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE) inventory for assigned buildings.
  • Review and validate the CIMU Condition Index (CI) calculated by BUILDER and initiate inspections as required.
  • Provide initial diagnosis of problems within facilities or obtain assistance from other parts of the NAVFAC organization.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy must pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with facility maintenance and operations in a military or government setting.
  • Familiarity with software modules such as MAXIMO, BUILDER, and CIMU.
