The Facility Plumber position at Aerotek involves performing service work and repairs on plumbing equipment within a large industrial plant for electric vehicles. Responsibilities

  • Maintain records of all repairs made on equipment, including parts used.
  • Observe safety precautions while working with hazardous chemicals.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plumbing systems to ensure they are properly functioning.
  • Diagnose problems with plumbing systems by listening for leaks, inspecting exposed pipes, testing pressure gauges, and running diagnostic tests.
  • Assist in the installation of boilers and other large-scale plumbing projects.
  • Provide technical advice regarding design specifications for new installations.
  • Participate in regular training sessions to stay up-to-date on industry changes.
  • Install and maintain water supply systems, including pumps, valves, piping, tanks, fixtures, and other related equipment.
  • Fabricate and assemble pipe sections for steam and hot-water heating systems.
  • Repair or replace worn parts such as washers, gaskets, and seals in plumbing system components.
  • Inspect drainage and sewer lines to detect blockages or leaks using video cameras.
  • Connect pipes to gas meters, regulators, and appliances such as stoves and water heaters according to local codes.
  • Construct water distribution systems from blueprints.
  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings using power saws or hand tools.
  • Perform maintenance on plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers, disposals, and dishwashers.
  • Determine the location of existing underground utilities prior to excavation work.
  • Install backflow preventers in accordance with state regulations.
  • Test pipe systems for proper functioning after installation or repair.
  • Read blueprints to determine the layout of plumbing systems, identify required materials, measure distances between cutting points, and calculate angles for connections.
  • Assemble valves and hangers for new installations and repair existing ones.
  • Replace broken drain lines using appropriate materials such as copper tubing or PVC piping.
  • Communicate with customers regarding recommendations on repairs, replacements, and upgrades of plumbing equipment.
  • Assemble and install metal and nonmetal valves, pipe fittings, and pipes.
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Follow relevant codes, regulations, and safety techniques.
  • Identify and locate required tools prior to starting each project.
  • Test piping systems with water and air pressure to maintain balance and accuracy.
  • Study blueprints and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, pipe installation sequence, and installation around possible obstructions.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and use alternative methods in emergency situations.
  • Use power tools to create assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Cut and fit pipes to established measurements.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to keep supplies in excellent working condition.
  • Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
  • Cut and bevel piping using cutting torches, saws, and threading machines.
  • Complete walk-throughs of completed systems to verify code adherence.
  • Locate and repair leaks in water supply lines.
  • Supervise staff and evaluate work performance.
  • Study building plans and other materials to determine work aids required and proper installation sequences.
  • Prepare project bids and gather parts, labor, and equipment needed for projects.
  • Perform pipe fabrication, installation, and fitting according to proper specifications.
  • Cut diverse pipe sizes and lengths to prepare for installation.
  • Inspect installations to repair leaks and make adjustments to pipes.
  • Verify and gather measurements to determine proper piping sizes.
  • Cut or thread pipes to blueprint or drawing specifications.

Requirements

  • Commercial or Industrial Plumbing Service Experience (State Certified Journeyman card holder)
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing leaks and pressure problems, making appropriate repairs
  • Experience in installing new parts (including PVC, copper pipes, toilets, fixtures, water heaters, chillers)
  • Backflow certification
  • Shift flexibility

  • Experience in maintaining records of repairs
