About the position

The Facility Program Manager for Compounded Sterile Products (CSP) at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for managing the CSP programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and performance improvement. This role involves developing and implementing procedures, overseeing compliance with USP chapters and other regulations, ensuring personnel competency, and maintaining environmental control in compounding areas.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procedures for CSP programs.
  • Oversee compliance with USP Chapters 795, 797, and 800 and other applicable laws and standards.
  • Ensure competency of personnel involved in compounding.
  • Maintain environmental control of compounding areas and cleanroom engineering controls.
  • Provide education and training for staff on CSP and hazardous drug management processes.
  • Review and maintain sterile and non-sterile compounding policies and procedures.
  • Ensure outsourced CSPs comply with USP requirements and standards.
  • Compound and dispense extemporaneous preparations requiring technical knowledge.
  • Maintain IV admixture references for accurate processing and dispensing.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy personnel to implement quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Graduation from an ACPE-accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a Pharm.D. degree or equivalent.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • At least 1 year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or completion of an ACPE-accredited Pharm.D. program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a clinical pharmacy setting.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy informatics and technology.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards in pharmacy practice.
