About the position

The Facility Program Manager for Inventory Management and Pharmacoeconomics at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for overseeing the procurement and inventory management of drugs, vaccines, and supplies within the pharmacy department. This role includes ensuring regulatory compliance, managing drug recalls, and implementing cost containment strategies while providing clinical oversight and education to pharmacy staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of pharmacy procurement and inventory programs.
  • Monitor communication and coordination of drug and supply recalls, conversions, and shortages.
  • Develop and implement action plans to manage drug recalls as the pharmacy recall coordinator.
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Leadership to develop a cost containment strategic plan utilizing pharmacoeconomic resources.
  • Manage the non-formulary and prior authorization drug approval process for high-cost drugs.
  • Analyze workforce requirements and transition new hires into their roles effectively.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to subordinate employees to improve performance.
  • Serve as a drug information resource for healthcare providers regarding therapeutics and drug interactions.
  • Track patients using high-cost medications to verify therapeutic goals are being met.
  • Participate in training and precepting pharmacy residents and students.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Graduation from an ACPE accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a Pharm.D. degree.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a U.S. state or territory.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in pharmacy management.
