About the position

The Facilities Project Manager (FPM) plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operations of District facilities. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the FPM is responsible for managing multiple facility projects, which may involve significant financial investments. The role requires technical expertise to address issues affecting facility operations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. The FPM oversees projects from inception to completion, collaborating with various stakeholders and ensuring quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject matter expert in assigned building trade, ensuring knowledge of applicable codes, laws, ordinances, and best practices.
  • Follow protocols for effective maintenance and safety procedures specific to the trade.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal staff to keep stakeholders informed of project status and resolve issues.
  • Manage facility projects from inception to completion, including developing specifications and scope of work.
  • Collaborate with the Contracts Manager/Administrator to manage the bid and selection process.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality checks on contractor's work to ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Review engineering and architectural design plans, providing insights on District standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, preparing schematics and flow diagrams as needed.
  • Manage service contracts for assigned area, maintaining communication with contractors and performing site checks.
  • Assist with the preparation of the facilities sustainment plan and manage all project documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Management or related discipline; relevant work experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • 3 years related work experience managing facility projects in a commercial environment.
