About the position
The Facility Safety Coordinator at Baylor Scott & White Health is responsible for coordinating activities that ensure compliance with various health and safety standards across multiple facilities. This role involves collaboration with hospital leadership and regulatory agencies to maintain continuous compliance with accreditation standards, manage hazardous materials, and oversee safety programs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the Environment of Care Committee at assigned facilities.
- Ensure compliance with required standards and maintain an integrated plan for continuous compliance.
- Serve as decontamination officer and manage the decontamination team.
- Write, modify, and monitor hazardous materials emergency preparedness plans.
- Manage hazardous chemical waste streams and complete indoor air quality studies.
- Coordinate Joint Commission activities with other departments.
- Facilitate weekly construction meetings with various stakeholders.
- Conduct interim Life Safety and infection control assessments for projects.
- Design and present in-service/orientation training programs.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, local, and TJC safety regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
- 1 year of experience in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic technology skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with hospital environment of care programs.
- Experience in general safety programs or emergency management programs.
