The Facility Services Apprentice - Plumbing position is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in plumbing within the Clayton County Public Schools district. This apprenticeship involves performing repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems and equipment across various buildings in the district. The role requires the ability to read a tape measure and knowledge of processing paperwork electronically using software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google. The apprentice will work under the supervision of the Plumbing Supervisor and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the plumbing systems are functioning efficiently and effectively. In this role, the apprentice will operate hand tools and sewer machines as assigned, assemble plumbing equipment, and accurately diagnose issues with plumbing systems, including pipes, tanks, pumps, drains, and fixtures. The apprentice will also be required to record repairs made and parts used according to departmental guidelines. Collaboration with other Facility Services personnel and district staff is essential, as the apprentice may assist with emergency assignments and other operational needs as required. The position demands a proactive approach to learning and performing plumbing tasks, with an emphasis on safety and adherence to district policies. The apprentice will be expected to make repair decisions that impact the schools and buildings within the district, all while maintaining regular contact with internal and external personnel to discuss important issues. This role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
