About the position

The Facility Solutions Associate III role at Hensel Phelps is a pivotal position focused on delivering process solutions for the effective implementation of facility services and operations. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of construction projects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) coordination, as well as facility maintenance and operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field observations, verifying construction status, and ensuring that all activities align with the established standards and codes, particularly those set by ASHRAE. In this position, the associate will work closely with technical and subject matter experts to prepare process documentation that adheres to company guidelines. This includes developing both written and graphical materials that support the documentation of systems and solutions. The role also involves coordinating with other members of the Solutions staff and determining processes based on a combination of knowledge, experience, and collaboration with design and engineering firms. The ability to read and interpret project design documents and specifications is crucial, as is the capacity to research and gather input from various internal and external resources. The Facility Solutions Associate III will play a key role in ensuring the ongoing success of Hensel Phelps by contributing to the effective management of facility services. This position is not only about technical expertise but also about fostering relationships and understanding the broader impact of facility operations on the company’s objectives. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field observations to verify construction status regarding MEPF activities.
  • Prepare process documentation in accordance with company guidelines and philosophies.
  • Develop written and graphical materials to support the documentation of systems and solutions.
  • Coordinate with other members of the Solutions staff.
  • Determine processes based on knowledge, experience, and correspondence with design/engineering firms.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Research and collect input from multiple internal and external resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field including engineering, construction, facilities management, or another related field.
  • Eight (8+) years of experience with construction projects, MEPF coordination, commissioning, systems start up, facility maintenance and operations, or retro commissioning and/or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Detail-oriented with advanced knowledge in computer software such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards and codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret project design documents and submittals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ten (10+) years of experience in a related field.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) through PMI.
  • Associate Commissioning Professional (ACP) through BCxA.
  • Tradesman License (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical).
  • Systems Management Certificate (SMC) & Building Energy Certificate (BEC) through BOMA/BOMI.
  • DAMA-accredited Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) Associate.
