About the position

The Maintenance Technician position at ASM Global Knoxville is responsible for maintaining all facility equipment in good working condition, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the venue, which hosts live events. The technician will perform repairs, conduct inspections, and implement solutions to prevent service interruptions, while adhering to safety codes and operational procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains all facility systems and equipment.
  • Inspects systems throughout the facility to detect malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Investigates malfunctions or breakdowns of systems to diagnose causes and locate the source of the problem.
  • Implements corrective actions and solutions.
  • Anticipates potential malfunctions or breakdowns and takes appropriate action to prevent or minimize curtailment of services.
  • Operates auxiliary supply systems when a breakdown occurs.
  • Coordinates shutdown and start-ups of utilities when conditions require it.
  • Assists with electrical, plumbing, painting, renovations, and general maintenance needs as required with the operations maintenance staff workload.
  • Follows procedures for use of Work Orders and ASM Global Maintenance Manager Systems.
  • Adheres to OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable safety codes.
  • Responsible for operating HVAC chiller, ICE Chiller, and Cooling Towers.
  • Assists with set up and take down flooring, portable chairs, operable walls, barricades, staging, tables, telephones, and other equipment for the successful execution of events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited technical school preferred.
  • 1+ year hands-on experience in maintenance.
  • Experience operating a forklift, scissor lift, or other similar heavy machinery.
  • Possesses a strong attention to detail and the ability and initiative to maintain the facility as a first-class facility.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills as well as writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management.
  • Ability to adhere to strict grooming standards established by ASM/KCC.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Able to navigate a computer and learn how to operate maintenance programs.
  • Familiar with operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic understanding of door hardware, locks, door closes, etc.
  • Understand and be capable of ensuring that all laws, building codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and other related materials.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.
