About the position

The Fact-Checking Producer (Level 1 Journalist - Temp) at Reuters is responsible for identifying and addressing misinformation on social media through comprehensive fact-check articles. This role supports the fact-checking team in writing trend reports and engaging in various projects aimed at combating misinformation. The position requires strong research and writing skills, a keen interest in U.S. politics, and familiarity with social media as a newsgathering tool.

Responsibilities

  • Identify viral content related to misinformation topics in the U.S.
  • Write comprehensive fact-check articles to establish the facts behind misinformation.
  • Support the Reuters fact-checking team in writing misinformation trend reports.
  • Proactively pitch fact-check articles addressing misinformation.
  • Communicate fact-check findings clearly and concisely.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of reporting and news writing experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical approach and ability to research independently.
  • Proven interest in covering U.S. current affairs and misinformation.
  • Strong news judgement and ability to identify emerging trends.
  • Ability to write crisp and clean copy in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in reporting, social media newsgathering, OSINT, or fact-checking.
