About the position

Our Digital Technology (DT) team is seeking a Principal Engineer Software Developer who will play a crucial role in designing, testing, and maintaining the next generation of factory statistical analysis software tools. This position is based in Tucson, AZ, and involves delivering services and developing applications that facilitate enterprise collaboration through a shared understanding of factory data. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of identifying opportunities and solving problems to drive continuous improvement. In this role, you will create and maintain data visualization and statistical analysis tools that enhance the understanding of factory data. You will be responsible for writing scripts to convert non-standard test data formats (such as Excel, Access, and text files) into a standardized text-based format. Collaborating with customers will be essential to ensure their data is utilized effectively to reduce process variation and improve factory test yields. You will also need to become knowledgeable about factory test data to support Raytheon Missiles and Defense program needs in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Utilizing agile software development methods, you will provide imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to a wide range of challenging technical problems. The position may require up to 10% travel and will include other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain data visualization and statistical analysis tools to enhance understanding of factory data.

  • Collaborate with customers to ensure effective use of data to reduce process variation and improve factory test yields.
  • Become knowledgeable with factory test data to support program needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Utilize agile software development methods to provide solutions to technical problems.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically a bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree in STEM and 3 years of relevant experience, or an AS degree in STEM and 7 years of experience.
  • Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Perl, C, C++, C#, Java).
  • Experience with web application development.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Python-based data inquiry (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib).
  • Exposure to statistical methods and tools such as Minitab, R, JMP, or SAS.
  • Proven knowledge of database design and software architecture principles.
  • Strong understanding of MSSQL, MariaDB, or ANSI standard SQL.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Core/Six Sigma, and statistical process control.
  • Familiarity with Angular/React/jQuery or similar JavaScript-based frameworks.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
