About the position

The Faculty-Academic position at Midland College is a full-time role focused on delivering quality education at the Fort Stockton WRTTC branch campus. The instructor will cater to diverse instructional needs across multiple academic and technical areas, engaging students through various teaching methods and participating in co-curricular activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, and select textbooks and teaching aids.
  • Teach using lectures, demonstrations, class discussions, and other appropriate modes.
  • Lead and monitor classroom instruction.
  • Participate in co-curricular activities such as campus committees.
  • Serve as academic advisor to students and be available for consultation.
  • Contribute professionally to governance outside the classroom for the WRTTC and community.
  • Plan learning activities and use teaching methods designed for various learning styles.
  • Maintain a classroom/laboratory/shop environment emphasizing safety and equipment security.
  • Use course texts, outlines, syllabi, and other curriculum materials in accordance with college guidelines.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with Academic Deans.
  • Participate in televised distance learning, dual credit, and internet-based curriculum development and instruction.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Economics, English, Government, or History.
  • Understanding of internet-based instructional software and computer technology.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and instruct in quality educational programs.
  • Valid Texas Driver's license with a good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree and 18 graduate hours in Economics, English, Government, or History.
  • Experience teaching community college level courses.
  • Experience in dual credit instruction.

Benefits

  • Salary range from $55,045 to $67,275 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
